Virtual Vendor Program

Rationale
Tech Data has created the Virtual Vendor Program to provide companies whose sales do not meet Tech Data’s $100,000 monthly minimum with the means to list or retain their products on Tech Data’s Website. Listing on Tech Data’s website makes a product available for sale to all of Tech Data’s customers.

In A Nutshell
In this program WPT buys your product and resells it to Tech Data at a nominal upcharge.

Maintenance Fee
WPT collects the Maintenance Fee required by Tech Data of all vendors. However, by special arrangement this fee is collected monthly, not annually or quarterly in advance.

Shipment / Payment
Your product is shipped directly to Tech Data’s Distribution Centers. Payment for product is in accordance with Tech Data’s standard terms to which 30 days has been added for processing by WPT.

Virtual Vendor Program Description
WPT’s program will present the important features, unique characteristics and the compelling advantages of your product to an international audience of technology resellers. Your product will be grouped within its appropriate category and its benefits will be available to Tech Data's 70,000 customers.

Program Features

  • A Tech Data Part Number - Your sales force’s presentations will carry much more weight with a Tech Data part number. They can ask for the order on the spot!
  • Detailed Product Information - Potential customers can get a detailed description of your product and a list of its features and benefits on the Tech Data Website.
Optional Marketing program available for only $2,500
  • New Vendor Link – On Tech Data’s website, there is a link from the Corporate Information/Manufacturers Section, which will take potential customers directly to a list of selected new products, including yours. From here, customers can drill down to your detailed product information.
  • On Hold Message – Tech Data’s Sales Division receives 35,000 to 40,000 calls each day. Callers on hold will hear a recorded message featuring vendor product information. Your company’s name and product will be mentioned an average of 2 times per hour on a recurring basis, during Tech Data business hours, for at least 30 days.
  • New Products Fax Blast – Reach Tech Data’s top 1000 resellers with a broadcast fax. Your company’s name and product, along with your Tech Data part number, will be included in this Fax Blast so that Tech Data's top resellers across the country are made aware of your product and know how to place an order.
  • New Products E-Mail Blast – Reach a second group Tech Data’s top resellers (Numbers 1001-2000) with an e-mail message. As in the Fax Blast, your company’s name and product, along with your Tech Data part number, will be included in this E-Mail Blast.
  • Sales Force E-Mail Blast – Your product information will be sent to Tech Data's entire inside and outside sales force.
  • New Products Line Card – A written line card that includes your product will be distributed to Tech Data’s entire inside and outside sales force.
Importance of Distribution
There are companies that have designed, engineered, and manufactured products that are superior to current industry offerings and represent state of the art technology. Even though priced competitively, without a comprehensive distribution and awareness building program, these products rarely succeed.

Many technology retailers insist on buying products through a distributor. If you are not already set up with one, you can miss the "window of opportunity" to close the sale and get your products on the shelf.

Within the computer industry, the rate of technological change is so rapid that product superiority must be converted to market share before competitors can react. This Tech Data program allows your product to be made available, within a short period of time, to over 70,000 resellers.

Tech Data’s customer profile
Tech Data sells only to qualified resellers and retail dealers with state ID tax numbers (or foreign equivalent). Tech Data does not sell to end-users.

Tech Data sells product from over 1,000 manufacturers and publishers. It sells more than 75,000 computer products through nine distribution centers in North America.
