Rite Aid Corporation is one of the nation's leading drugstore
chains, combining its large store base, strong brand name,
modern distribution centers and superior pharmacy technology
with a talented team of approximately 90,000 full and
part-time associates serving customers in 31 states and the
District of Columbia. Rite Aid currently operates
approximately 4700 stores, reporting total sales of $25.5
billion at the end of its 2010 fiscal year.
The Rite Aid sell-through testing program was designed to provide you
and your category manager with information on how well your product will
sell throughout the entire chain. To determine its potential, we measure
the sales of a product over a twelve week period in a sample of twenty
Rite Aid stores. The results enable you and the Category Manager to make
an informed decision about adding a product to their assortment.
All companies are referred to the sell-through testing program by Rite
Aid category managers.
Rite Aid has partnered with Warehouse Products Testing (WPT) to
facilitate Rite Aid's sell-through test program. This process provides
fast and easy setup of your product at Rite Aid, and establishes a point
of contact for feedback – Rite Aid’s Testing Program Manager.
Real Life Conditions: Your product is given every chance to sell well during the
program. The Rite Aid Testing Program Manager will choose the planogram
location for your product, often placing it next to the best seller in
its subclass. Rite Aid’s 3rd Party Merchandiser of choice
places your product into the planogram, test scans it for correct
pricing, and photographs it in each store’s planogram. The photographs
are then sent back to Rite Aid’s Testing Program Manager for analysis,
and then once approved, they are posted on WPT’s website and a link is
sent to you. The clock for the twelve week period starts ticking only on
the day your product is set up to Rite Aid’s Testing Program Manager’s
satisfaction.
Post Test:
At your program's conclusion, WPT will send a sell-through report to you
and to your Rite Aid category manager. The detailed report will contain
sales information for each week of the test and the average sell-through
rate over the entire period. Your report package will also include
pictures of product set-ups in the test site. Separately the Rite Aid
Category Manager also receives at the test’s conclusion a 16 page
analytical booklet for his/her viewing to utilize in making a final
determination on distribution. This analysis contains information that
is proprietary to Rite Aid and is kept confidential for that reason.
Selling at
Rite Aid: At the conclusion of the test, you will
negotiate with Rite Aid either directly, though your rep group, or
through your distributor. WPT is not involved in this part of the sales
process and charges no further fees or commission. At your request WPT
can provide you with the names of qualified rep groups or consultants.
